We are thinking about replacing our flood lights in our sanctuary with led's. the ceiling is about 20-25 ft high, with the lights about six feet apart. There are about 50 of them.
What LED's should we get.

Re: Chuch Sanctuary

Are they used with dimmers? That will be one consideration.

I'd suggest getting a few different ones and trying them side by side what's already there. See which one gives you the comparable/desirable output. Also see if you like them with the dimmers, LEDs don't turn a warm yellow when they dim like incandescent or halogen, they just get dim staying the same color.

Also you'll probably need to switch out your dimmer switches to ones rated for LEDs, standard dimmers sometimes don't play well with LED, causing flickering and other undesirable affects.

^^^What he said. Most churches have old dimming systems. You can count on it not being compatible with the new lamps. You should look for a PAR38 lamp with a beam angle of about 25 degrees. 15 is too narrow, 35 is too wide from that height. The lamp should put out a minimum of 1000 lumens. All this info will be on the box.
Making the dimming system work, however, will be very costly...I've been to many many churches that have decided not to change lamps because of this. Chance are it will have to be completely replaced. Ultimately, alot of sanctuaries dont burn their lamps long enough annually to justify the change out.
Good luck

I just finished up a large jewellery store with a nice dimming systems, all the drivers used a 0-10v dimming reference, seems to be the best way for reliable led dimming.

0-10V stuff is a royal PIA!
Also, he has existing flood lights. Not exactly conducive to a 0-10V retrofit.
