Are you talking about snap ring pliers, also known as retaining ring pliers? I guess I am not sure what you mean by "screw shaped".

Edit: Retaining rings have their own set of pliers, lock rings do too, and for e clips I use either some duckbill or bent tip needlenose pliers (sometimes I'll have to start it with a flat blade screwdriver if it's cramped or on real tight).

I deal with e-clips fairly often when rekeying locks. I either use a screwdriver, or one of these key gauges to push them off:
