Circlip Pliers question

I am looking to pick up a few more Circlip Pliers (internal and external) and noticed that Knipex offered overstretching limiters on a few of the model sizes I was looking at. Its essentially just a screw that you can set to prevent it from opening up too far and damaging a the clip.

I own a few already but none with the limiters. Is there any disadvantage to having that feature? Or will they function exactly like the normal ones if the screw is set back enough? I don't have a real need to have it, but if i'm buying the tool id rather spend a few more bucks for a feature that might be useful in the future if it doesn't have any drawbacks. At the same time since I don't have a real need for it, if there is any drawbacks ill probably pass on that feature.

If you're regularly dealing with clips of certain sizes during R&R of particular equipment, then yes, limiters would be extremely handy and save time.

I dont do any repetative work so diddnt feel the need, but i did notice how restricted the range was in the limiter models.

I have a set of craftsman workout limiters. I've never felt like I needed limiters but I don't do a lot of work with them. I don't imagine there is any downside though.

Unless you're doing very repetitive tasks with a lot of the circlips being the exact same size, then I feel the time it would take to adjust the screw for every clip wouldn't offset the minimal risk of damaging a clip.

Just don't manhandle them too bad and the risk of damaging them is negligible in my opinion. If you're really worried about it then get the non-limiter versions and with the money you save buy a kit with an assorted variety of the circlips you're likely to encounter.
