Does anyone know where I can get circlip (external snap ring) pliers? I'm going to Menards but I doubt they have them. I dont want to wait for an online order. I have my riding mower in a million pieces to replace the steering gears and hopefully can get the gears and get it back together before the next time I need to mow.

I have a the craftsman professional ones that are either internal or external and have replaceable tips. I've been happy with it. They usually have it in the store.

I got one of the channel lock ones from home depot. Its internal and external. has a few different tips for different size holes in the snap rings. The only thing i dont like about them is that internal/external feature. Pops into 'neutral' really easily. Or you can try sears. I think ive seen them there in the specialty automotive tool section.

I got the same ones a few days ago, haven't tried them yet though.

Mine are a LOT cheesier, more stamped metal like Lisle stuff, but as long as the tips fit well into the ring, seems to work great.

I use these... and they can't slip because they are dedicated internal and external with replaceable tips. They seem to work well.

I've got a (probably) 30 year old set of those, too.

These look cool

but that is a tool I use so seldom, it's waay hard to justify.
