Hooking up a generator inlet and started trying to figure out what breakers were needed for important stuff. Then started trying to figure out how a 3 bedroom house was completely filling a good size breaker panel, then noticed there were tags for things like "Shed", which doesn't have any power run to it and realized there were several switches in the kitchen that I have no explanation what they do.
So I think it is time for a cable tracer or hound system. I have a good set for doing LV stuff since it ends up being part of my job but nothing for HV stuff. Ideally I want something that can test from
-Plug/socket back to breaker (bonus for receptacles along the way)
-CB to plug/socket
-Double extra points if I can trace along the wire, triple if it will get through the sheetrock
Who makes the best bang for the buck?
Found a used rycom on a local forum that would be great for finding the outside lines but need something for the inside.
