I have 4 circular saws. A USA made mid 90's Ryobi, an 80's USA made SKIL (really like it), a USA made SKIL HD77 and a made in Japan Hitachi.

All work just fine for what ever job I throw at them. The worm drive gets used for large sheet cuts primarily. I don't think you can go wrong with a good USA made circular saw from any brand.

Worm drive is "best" for West coast folks. They are rarely seen on the east coast. They're a lot heavier and bigger than sidewinders
I agree. I hardly ever see worm drive saw for sale except in an industrial tool catalog. I prefer a regular Makita circular saw. 15 amp if you want to get fancy.

Does such a thing even exist these days? The made in USA part might be hard to find?

It appears they use a "SKIL® Worm Drive Motor"
.....and it also says "assembled" in USA.

Just because an American bolted the foreign parts together doesn't mean it has the quality of a good old original American made tool.

Don't get me wrong, that thing looks bad ***!.... But like I said "The made in USA part might be hard to find" (not assembled in the USA)

That is all.

Built in the USA
Each Big Foot 10-1/4” Worm Drive Beam Saw is hand-built right here in the USA. Henderson, Nevada, to be precise. Take confidence in the knowledge that your saw was made and tested by professionals just like you, right here at home.

I bet very little, especially electronics, is 100% made in usa. Even the stuff made the American manufacturing plants of my employer have foreign-sourced ingredients. What's the threshold? The qc and final assembly are the most important steps, IMO, and this saw qualifies

Correct.... which is EXACTLY why I said "The made in USA part might be hard to find?" in my original reply to Shocker.

This is why I said the Big Foot saw is "assembled" in the USA...... because I read it on their website. lol

I have to chime in here... If you get a 10 1/4" saw to trim a door... you need to re-evaluate your knowledge of carpentry.

Go ahead flame me...

Don't get me wrong... I would love that 10 1/4" saw but even if it was my ONLY saw... I still wouldn't use it to "TRIM" a door.
I absolutely agree. It's not nearly enough.. Think of how wide the door is

Exactly... go ridiculous instead. I suggest a Stahl 20" chain saw.

Depends on what door you are trimming...😁

Well I was talking about finding a good used saw. I bought a Skil 5150. Made in the USA from USA material. 20-30 years old.

Some guys buy them and use them a few times for a project then they sit. I got mine for $10, no case but a nice Freud blade.
