circular saw worm drive lubricant

Any of the old timers got any idea what kind of lubricant goes in the
old worm drive saws of the 50's & 60's.Is it grease or some kind of
special oil designed for worm drives.Got 3 of these saws; a wappat,,cummins,
and a rockwell- 6",7 1/4",and 8 1/2".

Skil has their own special lubricant. It's a very thick dark brown lube that smells like whale fat.

It is a specific gear oil similar to what is used in rear ends
