Ok... I open the floor to your picks for a normal circular saw. Normal use (I do plan on building a deck in the spring/summer), so it doesn't have to worry about doing anything crazy... just a nice, solid, normal (no fancy frills) saw is fine.

I had considered cordless, but.... for the cost it seems a bit silly.

Milwaukee 6390 Tilt-Lok saw. Light at 10.4 lbs., and powerful (15A).

I picked up the DEWALT DC4KITA 18-Volt, 4 Tool Cordless Combo Kit earlier this year. Basically for weekend warrior work. I like the circular saw so far. It's a 6 1/2 inch.

I’m a carpenter who uses a lot of different saws, and I own the same one.
I’m very happy with the performance of the saw.

As far as the battery saw, I don’t think the extra cost is worth it.
If you don’t use the tool a lot, is it worth all that extra money to save the time of not dragging out a cord?
If you used the tool to make a living, the battery tools are nice, time is money.
But around the house, my time is free.

I bought a $30 Skil Saw at Home Depot for weekend projects and it has worked great. Nothing fancy, just a plain old circular saw.

Porter Cable Magnesium - I got the opposite hand of what most saws are - just seemed more comfortable to me looking on that side when cutting...

I found the Craftsman power tools to be big and bulky, I went with a Skil saw. Works great, feels great, I just use it for jobs around the house though.

I have a Skil Saw - standard nothing fancy it was around $50 a few years ago. I am not a fan of it, the table is off square and guard hangs up on being pushed up from time to time. I bought my crew a DeWalt corded and they love it, plenty of power and light weight.

Thanks for the replies.

Perhaps a better way to phrase the question is, "What brand would you stay away from"?
