My search has finally paid off, scored a 10" 1hp Baldor with stand. Thing is a freaking beast! Cost 100 bucks and worth every penny!

Have a couple of smaller Baldor models, one is JC Penney branded, & a couple of Rockwell 7" grinders, I think you be quite happy with it.

Here is a repost of the OP's pic.

With the stand for $100? That's a full 30 inches of vacuum suction...

Thanks for posting the pic, stupid internet cut out on me last night before I could fix it.

It cam from a U Haul center that was remodeling. Guy's boss told him to get rid of it before the top dogs came to look at the remodeling, they could not have that old grinder around! He had it listed at 300 originally, then down to 150, then offered it to me for 100. He told me he was thinking of scrapping it if I had not jumped on it!!!:wtf:

I can't beleive how fast the thing gets up to speed, and I can not overload it like my Cman 8".

Here is my recent find, My first baldor too. (Pic)3E63F93I95S65S05S2cb67124b665b17b1e5d.jpg

Story goes they wanted couple hundred bucks for a grinder, vise and 2 compressors. Nothing special with the compressors just some sears style 20gal types, anyway they sell the vise (don't know type) then one compressor and now they have one compressor and this grinder left. I kept watching the ad as it slowly goes down over the next several weeks to $50 bucks. So I call them up and see if I could by the grinder alone for 25 bucks, they said no problem, come down.

Note, the ad said this grinder is good working condition. So I wend down to find the baldor grinder on the table and the first thing that comes to my mind is this thing is a beast. Anyway they told me that it was working but now it's not. So I flip it over and now I know why.(pic)IMG_20121206_154042.jpg

I told them I"m not paying 25 bucks for that!:scared: They said how about 10 bucks, I thought about it and said "ok"(I could sell it for parts if it don't work).

Brought it home and plugged it in and it sparked, being that it was late and I didn't want to mess with it, I left it for the next day.
So next day comes and I go though the wiring and find that one of the capacitor wires rusted off and was touching the base which cause the spark the day before. Cleaned it off and stuck in the cpacitor to make sure it works before devoting anymore time with it and guess what it fired right up. :rocker:

You know, that's not that bad. As long as the inside of the motor is clean ALL of that mess is easily and inexpensively replaced. Wire brush and some POR-15 or Rustoleum and you're in business.

$10 is a super deal!

Thanks, I thought so. Already wired brush, but the capacitor was full of holes. I going to replace it, just got to find a place that has them.

This thing is wired to 110, single pole switch, how hard would it be to wire this thing up for 220v so I can have the duel speed. I want the duel speed for grinding bits and chisels-lower speeds, right?:dunno:
I read somewhere that grinding at higher speeds causes heat which damage the hardening process.

things I need
different switch
do I use the same type capacitor or is there one for 220.
wiring diagram for 220
power cord

If would be great.
