Jeeze,

Who pissed in his Wheaties? WTF! What does he care what the buyer does with it after the sale? If he gets the money he wants, who cares? When I sold one of my race cars, I 'member saying, "I don't care if plants dope in it. It's SOLD, baby!"

On the other hand, if that tool is your soul mate and you sleep with it every night, WTF are you doing selling it for in the first place, Sh!t for brains!

I love messing with people like that just to jack 'em up a notch or two...

I know of a few old timers [look who's calling someone an old timer] that refused to sell an antique auto if the buyer was going to turn it into a hot rod.
Just tell the seller what he wants to hear then do what you want when you get it home.

Actually if you read between the lines on what the guy is saying, he seems to be a pretty good guy. It sounds like he would take less money from an aprentice starting out who would use the tool daily. I have dealt with some crusty old-timers like that when I was starting in the tool & die business. I've had guys like that give me tools that they refused to sell to guys that had plenty of tools.

I remember a store sat vacant and I inquired about it. The realtor said the owner stipulated that it needed to be a kosher establishment or he would not sell or rent it. I think that is crazy, jihad on non kosher businesses.

deleted, what was the punchline?

His original ad was a long-winded rant about not selling his tools to anyone who didn't need them. He would only sell to a contractor, etc., etc. "I'm a retired electrician, blah, blah, blah"... :headscrat

If I sell something I don't care what they do with it. Some people are that way. When I bought my Chevelle back in 96 the owner asked me before he handed me the keys " You are going to keep it all stock right?" Sure I am, I answered. I drove it straight home into the garage and pulled the entire drivetrain. I drove it by his house a month later and did John Force burnout.

You didn't have the price set before you went? Or was it the condition of the item you were hoping to knock them down a few bucks after you saw it (I could understand this).

Sometimes you just have to walk away.

I wouldn't be surprised if half of the "OBO" posters didn't have any clue what it stood for, and are just adding it because they see it on all kinds of other ads.

I agree. This thread is pointless without it.

Well, you shoulda read it yesterday when I originally posted it.

I'm not a mind-reader. I had no idea the guy was going to delete his original ad and re-post the next day. Craigslist ads are good for 45 days. Perhaps he got so much sheet from members here that he had a change of heart.

A portion of the ad is quoted in post #7 above.

There are pretty strict rules (they call them laws) when dealing with Kosher issues. You'd be surprised. If the building was used for non-Kosher purposes, it could be rendered useless in the future for Kosher businesses.

Some of the super-markets here have two deli's inside...one is Kosher and one is for us Goyums. They are located on opposite ends of the store so as not to cross-contaminate.
