If it runs and has enough of the parts to be a functional drill press, buy it. It will be leaps and bounds better than what you can buy today for even $250.

If it comes with the vise, well you bought a vise and got a free drill press with it. :lol_hitti

Awesome...yea, the guy said he just bought a house and the garage is FULL of old tools. I asked if i could come by tmrw and poke around and see if there is any other treasures in there i could take off his hands for him, and he gave me the green Light.

Take lots of $20's. Show up with a small pickup truck and a buddy with a trailer around the corner. That way you don't look completely desperate then when you strike a deal your buddy pulls up with the trailer to help load. :lol_hitti

For sure any vises, anvils, Craftsman block grinders, vintage tool boxes and storage cabinets, antique lamps, fans etc. Ask if he minds you taking pictures of things that you may try to find homes for.

Yes, it's probably worth $50. However these primitive old DP's can be a PIA for real work:

- Only 4 speeds
- Often worn, missing or damaged parts
- Unobtanium parts/proprietary parts
- Lack of table elevation
- Lack or precision

Go check out everything else he has.

P.S. I love old iron but drill presses and compressors aren't one of them.

DETROIT! Arsenal of Scrappers
Looking for a good vertical band saw for metal and wood and a disc or belt and disc sander.

Oh yeah...Anvil, big vise, 3/4HP or 1HP Craftsman block grinder.
