I bought this from a local craigs list ad for $10. It is new, still in the original box with paperwork. I haven't done any research yet to see how old it is - for all I know it is a pos but for $10, it seemed like it was worth taking a chance (and I need a vise for the workbench I haven't made yet anyway - I'm thinking 4x4s for the corner posts using simpson strongtie brackets to tie them into 2x4s).

I have what appears to be the exact same vise (I'm too lazy to dig out the paperwork to look for the Sears part number) and I bought it in the early '80's.

Well, looked and cannot find the paperwork. My vise is exact same style, casting design, color, etc. and the jaws measure exactly 4 inches across.

Very nice find!
I remember pricing vises 20 years ago and being intimidated, they were downright expensive! Not just "ouch, that's more than I thought it would be", but " Wow!! I need some nitro for the sticker shock" expensive. I haven't even looked at new ones since.
I had one very similar to that one in looks but far older and very worn even back then. I still have it!
You did better than good on that buy Lucas.
