Requires a 2 hour drive. Looks to be decent grinder. Should I go take a look?

Guy is asking 160. I think it's a Dayton.

Yeah, looks like an older model Dayton than what we have...

If you need one, can't complain, they are pretty solid...

The switch looks like an import, but the "s" on guards could be a Sioux grinder. I think that Sioux also made for Dayton, so that explains the similarity

Never knew that... My Dayton has those big S's on the guards too, it's just black instead of green. Learn something new every day.

Come to think about it, but my 10-inch Dayton has that same switch as well as those hose connection ports on the shields----that grinder was definitely made in Taiwan. If the CL grinder is imported, it is not worth $160. If it is a 8-inch or 10-inch model, no more than $100

I just looked at mine, made in Taiwan... Probably 8-10 years old by now? I remember my dad bought it at Grainger...

New they are listed at $270....

Yes....I would go look. There's a $100 of metal/effort in the stand alone. Offer him $100 - settle for $130 - call it a great deal.

For me, it would really depend on what the market is like where you live. If you're in a rural area, I could justify the drive. The cost of fuel could be a deal killer.

Since SLC is a well populated area, a 2 hr drive would have to be a killer deal or a rare part. But where I grew up in the northeast, I could justify it better as there wasn't a lot of cool/useful stuff for sale.

:+1:

Weigh the options of how fast you need a grinder, local market and alternative options. The 2hr drive makes an already not so great deal an even more not so great deal IMHO.
