CL,s server protocal

does anyone on here have access to CL,s adds when the seller only posts with CL,s email. My ISP,s server doesnt recognize CL,s and so i cant respond to an add with no seller ph # or email given.Hope Im making sense here.....thanks Kirk ( I have in past tryed the clic and drag approach and it doesnt work)

Why can't you highlight the address, right click/copy it, and then paste it into an email??

I have tried that in the past.I tried it this time and am not sure if it went( the highlight and past routine)I dony know why people just dont leave their own email when selling on CL

If you have a free email account (gmail, yahoo, etc.) use that to send your email.

If you are using such an account and it won't send from your email program, try sending using the webmail interface.

thanks everyone for the advise.Im not that computer savy I cant seem to get this CL thing to work.CL knows about this issue but the dont care or so ive been told............Anyway if someone on here could do me a favor and email this guy give him my email so he can contact me it would be greatly appreciated.......you need to go CL Buffalo NY. under car-trucks ,1948 ford f1 ask him for his email.?mine is [email protected]

thanks for trying anyway.I believe it has something to do with server protocal and firewall if you notice stuff like POP and SSL ,ssl is secure socket layers.I think CL knows about this problem but doesnt care enough to fix it.But people who post on CL should know that they are excluding a certain amount of business.Many people get around the spam by posting their ph# alpha numerically......thanks

I'm not clear on what the problem is here. Does the mail link not work when you click on it? Or does the email created by clicking on the link not send correctly? CL just uses a simple mailto: protocol and if you can click on ANY email link anywhere and have it work, it should work there, too.

If it's a matter of not sending, that's a different problem and is probably the fault of your ISP's mail screening. It shouldn't have anything to do with a correctly configured firewall, SSL or anything else. It's just email with an obfuscated address that CL re-routes. I've never had trouble with the system ever, under any ISP or mail system.

That has nothing to do with CL - it's your mail service. It may be that whatever you're using for mail doesn't like the way CL forms its random addresses, but CL's part in it is very simple. You're not interacting with their server or their protocols - you're just sending email to a mailto: link.

Ok thanks I will talk to my isp,I think I am better off phoning during business hours.Iwill probably get the run around bs anyway but I will try...........But I dont know if you could email to the CL seller and give him my email. Its [email protected] it would be much appreciated....Its on Buffalo NY. CL. go to cars and trucks/ then search 1948 f1/as in 1948 ford f1 pickup.I own a 1950 f1 and this one may be what Im looking for..thanks Kirk

When you copy and paste does the address look like this (just example I pulled off of cl)

If so try cropping it some to making it look like this

This is what I have to do when trying to reply to some, not sure why it does this but doing this ussually works for me.

It looks like that yes. I have tried cropping it but still doesnt work.Most adds I see on CL usually have a ph # or email along with the CL address.This one didnt,I will call my isp on Mon. If I call tonight I will just end up on hold infinitem.......thanks

It sounds as if your ISP's mail server either reformats the address, making it non-workee, or truncates it to fewer characters, same result.
