Got this locally off of a nice older gentleman today for $40. He was a sheet metal worker who purchased this drill press from his employer years ago. He claims that it was a 1940 model. It works well but has been well used. I'm going to clean it up and put it to use.
Also picked up a DP350 table top model for another $40. I need to replace the switch.

Can anybody ID/confirm anything about this drill press?

Well.. You certainly got a h-e-double-hockey-sticks of a deal! And to think I felt good about getting my Atlas 1420 press for $50.

The older one is a 14" DP220, from the mid to late 30's IIRC. I'd make a sacrificial plate for that table since there is so much meat gone. Or buy an entire replacement table.

The other DP350 is a nice machine IMHO even though it is off shore. I have one and it is just handy and too much sentimental value to let go of. Hopefully the drive doesn't have any issues. You are going to want to lube it up very well as it looks like it has been sitting for a while. DO NOT move the speed control handle without the machine running. Take the top cover off and look it over. You want to drip oil onto the sheeve shaft while it is running. I'd recommend you download a manual for it.

You might be able to fix the switch, it comes apart internally from time to time. It's pretty easy to take apart and reseat the contacts. Just make sure to check it with a meter before plugging it back in.

Did a little resto on the DP220 today. Getting a steel plate to overlay the Arc of Shame. Also need to do a little paint work in the motor.

One hell of a repair (not mine) but it works.
