Just scored this USA Made Wilton 5" mechanics vise for $50 today, guy posted it an hour before I saw the add and I was the first to respond, I didn't even try to barter with the guy since I felt it was a fair deal.

Got a funky repaint to lime green for some reason and has some hot melt glue on it which has since been removed. I think it may have been used a time or two at the most since it is in excellent condition and has not marks on it. It is even bolted to a piece of 1/2" aluminum plate which works out well for me since I don't have a permanent place to mount it yet.

I have been looking for a wilton bullet vice for some time but people want a fortune for them, saw this one and couldn't pass it up. Plus, only had to drive 15 minutes to get it.

So how did I do?

That’s a fair price for what you got. Repaint it your favorite color, sports team’s colors, industrial gray, whatever, and use it for what it was intended for.

It's a user.
If you need a vise, almost any VISE is worth fifty bucks.
I don't mind the color.

Ducksface is right. The one you got for $50 is certainly better than a new one from Harbor freight at the same price.
The last vise I bought (Athol 614) has 4 inch wide jaws and cost a bit less at $40 but it was rusted up solid and wouldn’t move plus it was covered with burned on old paint. And it has no swivel base.

In my neck of the woods, I'd call it a great deal. You don't find anything vise-wise thats USA made under $80.

I believe that is the original color.

It is:

http://www.wiltontools.com/us/en/p/1550-high-visibility-safety-5-vise-with-swivel-base/63187

It's their high visibility color. That should be pretty close to the model the OP posted.

It's not a bullet, but still a Wilton USA vise --- so for $50, can't go wrong.

Reason I thought it was painted was because of the overspray on the jaws.
If you look at the second photo, you can see this, if you look at the link for the new vise, jaws look to be painted off the vise.

Yeah, suckage.

Around here the no budge asking price would have been double that. And rusted/frozen stiff...

And if that's a factory paint job, I hope Wilton fired the guy that did it.

That’s high vis factory paint.

That looks like an '80s model 745 from when they were still made in USA. Factory color was green, and they certainly didn't paint the jaw serrations. A nice feature was the machined thrust washer on the spindle, and I believe was very short-lived as it was an expensive component on an otherwise lower cost vise.
