I'll start with I Love my wife and She must love me. She is public school transportation engineer (Bus Driver) I know she spends alot of time on CL. I must have stated in the past I would like a drill press, low and behold look what she found for me.

It is a Foster Machine Co. from Elkhart In.
Serial #20-101 I think the machine may be from 1920

Cool beans! I used one like that in my way younger days at a tractor dealership to fabricate farm equipment pieces with. I guess she's now a keeper for sure?

designed to be powered by an overhead shaft and wide belt in a textile mill or manufacturing plant.

One example was the Eddystone, PA, rifle plant built by Remington in 1916 to produce pattern 1914 Enfields for the British. 14 acres under roof, over 10,000 individual pieces of machinery and over 40,000 ft of overhead shafting to power the machines. Imagine all those shafts and belts running continuously night and day! That is how America became the great industrial might it was.
