Hey All,
I did a search but didn't see anything...possibly there is and I missed it.
I'm looking for ideas to store clamps. I've accumulated a variety of clamps, C, grip clamps, pipe clamps and flat bar clamps and am looking for good ideas for storage.

Thanks in advance

I had them on a 2x4 that the PO had put all accross one wall of my garage. I took them off the other day to hang up two cabinets in that spot. Put the C-clamps in my toolbox, still haven't figured out what to do with the bar clamps.

I made this clamp cart from a restaurant cart I picked up at the scrap yard. All the rest was from scrap I had at home. Still have a couple more things to add.

The Besseys at 9:00 on your rack. What do you use those for and how good are they? I got a few when they got clearanced out, so far haven't had much luck with them.

So far I much prefer the Jorgy/Irwin style to these.

I built one very similar to this one, https://www.woodcraft.com/products/...=PLA&utm_term=149700&utm_content=All Products . I didn't really use a plan but just looked at the picture an ran with it. Figure out what angle of cut you want for the bottom of the riser pieces and away you go. IIRC, I used a 10 degree angle of cut on mine.

I also built this one for my parallel clamps, https://www.woodcraft.com/products/woodworking-project-paper-plan-to-build-wall-mounted-clamp-rack . I did use the plans for this one though because I just basically didn't want to mess with the spacing calculation between the boards.

I screwed a 1'x4' piece of plywood to my garage truss and hang clamps off that. Anything that doesn't fit will hang over the truss itself. It works well for my setup.

I only have a few long pipe clamps, so they are hung low on my pegboard out of the way.

My quick-grip clamps I have clamped to the corner shelf on my work bench for quick access as I'm always using them.

My C-Clamps is the last of the group I need to figure out how to organize better. Right now they are all hanging on a couple long bars on the peg-board. But they weigh a lot and it's a pain to have to pull a bunch out to get to the one I want. I saw one picture where someone used some 1/2" pipe pieces and mounted them with flanges to a 2x4 (think industrial coat rack), then hung each size on a pipe...

edit found it - I might do this:

built this a few years ago while setting up shop. Wheels into the corner when not needed. More than I've needed at one time, but its nice have a variety. I've added more Irwin quick grips since then.

I use those plier type clamps more than I thought. They have a much longer reach than spring clamps and much stronger. Funny thing about clamps, I have always said my favorite clamps are the Jorgensen F clamps and I definitely think they are better than the similar Besseys, but when I honestly looked at what I grab first for most jobs is the Irwin quick clamps or now the above mentioned Bessey pliers. They are so easy and fast and the clamping pads don't rotate. The F clamps you sometimes have to try to keep a small piece from rotating or shifting as you tighten it down. I tend to place the quick clamps or the parallel clamps first to keep things from moving then add the F clamps.

My next project with clamps will be to make a wall rack or another cart for my pipe clamps. I didn't have room on the other side of that cart for them after setting up for the parallel clamps.

The irwin quick grips are great... I have probably a dozen of them clamped on the corner shelf of my work bench. Every now and then I think Lowes has the 4-pack with two different lengths for like $19.95...

It depends on how many and what type. I built this cabinet for storing my woodworking clamps. The first photo is the cabinet closed. On the right side are purpose-built fixtures that each hold 4 of my Jet Parallel clamps. On the left side, the back is lined with french cleats and I have a variety of clamp holders that fit on the french cleats to hold various of my different clamps.

Opening the cabinet reveals more french cleats with some of my less commonly used clamps again on hangers made specifically for that clamp type.

The french cleat is a great system - it allows me to rearrange things as my clamp needs change or my clamp collection changes. I have over 200 clamps, all the way from 2" C Clamps to 60" bar clamps, all stored in a 4' by 6' space.
