Classic 96 or Tool Vault

I just paid off my classic 96, but id like a bit more space because my 96 is stacked! I recently got a 45 inch waterloo from another mechanic but that was going to be a project and ultimately a home box. Think i should **** it up in my 96? Think the quality compares? I almost think the vault would be of better quality. Its a montezuma in essence. The extreme on strictly tool boxes is of thicker gauge steel but how is the vault? I could probably get 3k for my 96 its just over a year old and its in good shape.

I had same dilemma wanted a matching top and bottom if ur a pro the cheap box probably won't last and most importantly look at the depth decide if u can live with the 4 in drawer loss
Look at the homak or mastercraft 56 or 72 I'll only lose a inch in depth with those boxes
Strictly tool boxes also sells some deep boxes like gator built 30 in deep urs is 24 I I remember but in my garage I don't have 60 in to open a drawer
That's my opinion buy a hf box n park it next to it

The drawer detents on the tool vault are terrible. You have to either slam it or push firmly every time you shut the drawer. Other than that its probably comparable to your classic. I don't know about the slides though.

Personally, I would buy the matching top for the classic 96 unless you really don't want to give up work space. Otherwise, I'd at least see what Snappy would give you in trade for a 1023.

Thanks guys, yea the depth was more what i was interested in. And thats good to know about the slides. I hear the extreme boxes are very good for the money then. I like having work space up top and the top box is sooo much money. If i could get 3k for my box im lookin at another 700 or so for an extreme as opposed to an additional 3k just for a top or to upgrade to a 1023. decision decisions, would i dare ask if the thicker gauge steal of the extreme makes it comparable to a krl?

I have the 56" version of that ToolVault box. The drawers operate smoothly and no way there is any problem with detents.

Before I bought it, I checked out the usual suspects available locally, including Northern Tool, Tool King, Craftsman, big box store brands, and Harbor Freight. This ToolVault is very much better than any of those.

My Tool Vault drawers operate just fine also.....

I had a classic 96, and had to sell it. I replaced it with a 56 combo that looks like the tool vault. I did buy it from stricktly toolboxes. Its labeled with their name. It is decent. Not up to par with the 96 though. I would trade in a heartbeat. The link you posted does not look to be noticably bigger? Is it the drawer layout that suits you better? I cant see it being that much bigger. I do now have a krsc46 that is similar to the classic series in build quality. I can tell the quality is not as good in the cheaper box, although better than a hf or craftsman, not quite snap on. I would buy another classic again, if I could swing it.

Look at the Extreme 55" Professional Roller at Strictly Toolboxes...

It's a beast...

If you don't mind having 2 separate boxes I would get a SO single bank that matches your classic96.

Its like 8 inches taller and 6 inches deeper. Those differences are huge
