Hi there, long time reader of posts first time posting. I have a steel building that has vapor barrier faced fiberglass insulation that is R19 (where its not compressed) It is on the ceiling above the 12" purlins. I am looking to add T&G cedar planks attached to the purlins. I want to fill the void above with more insulation to increase the R value and fill the void. I live at 6K feet in the mountains with cold snowy winters and getting hotter summers.
Can I put netting onto the purlins and blow in insulation. Or should I use a vapor barrier above the T&G like a breathable one like Intello Plus then insulation. Or lastly put more faced with the plastic like whats the in the 12" void.
It has also been suggested to put slices in my existing insulated vapor barrier to breath if I add more insulation in the voids. Also it was suggested not to. I guess there is no clear way to do this? Suggestions desperately needed so I can move forward.
