Classic Mini DIY Carport to Garage Conversion

Hey everyone! My name is Cole and I run a medium-sized Youtube channel teaching people how to work on their Classic Mini Coopers. I am super excited as we are now officially enclosing our carport (see picture) into a fully-functioning garage space for the channel. Will effectively be a very large single-car garage. I figured I should spin up an account here so I can start chatting with folks about their garages and how to make mine perfect for my work.

After construction is done my shortlist of work is below. Probably pretty standard for most folks!
- Insulate and finish walls
- Insulate attic above the garage
- Coat and Seal the floor (Really considering white and would love some suggestions)
- Paint the walls maybe white or a really light green
- Split AC/Heat unit at some point
- Fixed hard airlines for easy connection
- Maybe a lift. (max jack perhaps but undecided)

Awesome. A 76 mini was the first car i owned, when i was 12, and in the end i have owned close to 100 of them, mostly derelicts, but a few nice ones as well.

Thank you! Yes I completely agree. Get a storage style list and get a few more minis in there. Not sure my wife would be down with the sudden depletion of savings to buy more minis though....

Hey Dave! I have all the Mini Turbo plans laid out. Now it's a waiting game for the parts to arrive. Should be a few weeks still but it's all good. With the garage build kicking off it's gonna keep me from working on the engine a bit anyways.

So thought you all may get a kick out of this, I was prepping the space and moved my ladder, forgetting I left my Milwaukee impact driver on top of the ladder....que minor concussion and much suffering. My ring camera caught it....

Thanks! Yeah I have mixed emotions about the honda engines. If I did one I think I would do the D-series Honda engine.

About 400sq/ft with a 10ft ceiling.

In those pictures you see the wall with the black door and windows that is now "in the garage"? That opens into the old workshop which was where I shot all my videos. Car work all took place in the carport.

The wall with door and windows will be coming down to further open the garage space up.

Just like that, you have a new subscriber. Instead of the breezeway, have you given thought to French doors heading to the backyard? It would give you some added footprint and the ability to move your Mini into the backyard if you ever wanted to do so. I'm looking forward to the progress on the garage.
