All sellers must have a location listed in their profile failure to have one is loss of post.

Just curious as to what is driving this, has someone here recently been screwed buying or selling something or what? My question is not intended to start a flame war, and really, I have no problem with the idea at all. I was merely curious. :headscrat

For one it is considered general rules of buying and selling on the internet and off, two it gives the buyer an idea of shipping and length of time for an interaction.

I have no problem with a rule like that. In fact, I think location should be mandatory when you set up your account. Sure, people can put silly stuff like "planet earth" or whatever, but I think that would take care of most people.

On the other forums I visit (Vbulletin also), a FS thread cannot be posted until you select the state you're residing in (drop down menu next to thread title). Sometimes it can be annoy if you want to post a WTB thread instead.

Seems to me things have been working good so far, why the need for the changes. Besides, I figure if I get the shaft here I really have no recourse beyond bitching about it on the board.

Actually, I have made more smooth transactions here, with great folks that are just flat trustworthy, so I really see nothing to gain making things complicated. Besides, lets face it, the folks you are dealing with here are either on the up and up, or not. I trust every person I have bought from here implicitly. Rickster, wrenchr, Lonegunman, BMW, Snapmom, and several who's names escape me at the moment. I just fail to see how making the process more difficult would improve anything. It would not get your money back, you would likely spend much more trying to get back the money that you spent, and never see a dime back anyway.

As far as shipping goes almost everyone expects shipping to be covered in the cost of the tool. Moot point from my dealings. JMO.

Who's going to be spending a lot of their free time looking for these dastardly rule breakers? Not having the location listed hurts the seller if anyone so why do you care? If the location is not listed don't buy the item.

Actually, it is more important to see a picture of what is for sale...that is what should be mandatory.

Before everybody had a digital camera, having an actual picture was one of my buying criteria. Using a stock photo is bad!

I could care less where an item is located, unless I planned on picking it up. These toolbox for sale threads are silly without at least a state.

It take two seconds to scan the classified sales and there is a report button for members to hit to report rules violations. I admin a few boards and also consult on a another it take so little time to actually look for issue then you think.

All sellers must have a location listed in their profile failure to have one is loss of post, Go directly to jail, do not pass GO, do not collect $200

Those Bostonians are big on the rules and regulations, let me tell ya.:spit:

Just messin with ya -B-.:)

Just because something is good etiquette, and just plain common sense does not necessitate a new rule. Perhaps someone could post a list of helpful tips for classified transactions that could be added as a sticky.

instead of this, how about needing 30 days of membership and 50 posts or something to be able to use classifieds? This will keep out spammers and people coming here just to sell their stuff. There are already a few members who post their products all over the place without really contributing anything else to the forum....

I think that MA has more laws than any other state in the union, and most of them take away rights that people in the other 49 states get to keep. Want a politician???? MA doesn't have just politicians, they have whole families that are politicians. The breed like flies, and then move to the neighboring states to become politicians there. The only thing that they are really good at is dodging taxes, and managing to get annulments after being married for 25+ years.. :lol_hitti
