Looking for experienced feedback on clausing 4904 lathes. Any good or bad opinions. One came up for sale and I'm just trying to do a little research. I can't see it until next week. Any quirky characteristics to this model? Common issues?

I have a 4914 which just has a longer bed. I use to use mine often but then I picked up a Leblond. The Clausing actually has less wear but my Leblond has bigger dials and a taper attachment. The dials on the Leblond measures the diameter and the Clausing is radius so i have to remember that when I switch lathes.
The Clausing is belt driven so it's much quieter. Has flame harden ways and it should be 3 phase power. I added a VFD box and it works perfect. If the lathe is in good shape, it'll be a good one to learn on.

I have had a couple of Clausing machines over the years and they were always nicely finished and good quality. Their lathes (http://www.lathes.co.uk/clausing/page4.html) are above the Atlas machines in capability and weight but can still be moved without the help of riggers (helped a friend move one with an old engine hoist) or at least skates and a forklift (like a Monarch 10EE). Unless it is totally worn out or abused is should be a good machine.
