I 100% agree, but if you look in a high quality set of screwdrivers, like a gunsmith uses, there are something like 50 "sizes" of small blade screwdrivers.

Have it and like it: Brownell Magna-Tip Super Sets

I just tell the screws, "Don't make me stop this car and pull out the Snap On" and the screws come out on their own.

I've gone to square drive for most of my carpentry work. All my pocket screws are square drive and my most of my assembly screws are square drive and self tapping. A lot less frustration and much faster too.

Not sure much is accomplished. Seems like it would buff the metal (not good) and would slightly round the sharp edges. Makes sense if the tip is gummed up but not something I would consider a good thing to do unless the tip was rusty or gummed up.

The best thing to do is use replaceable APEX tips, when they get worn, you chuck them, and they have grooves formed into them, ACR (Anti-Camout on Removal) which helps them stay in the screw. You use a magnetic tip screwdriver made to take the interchangeable tips such as the Snap-On SSDMR4B.

The other thing you can do on a really tight screw to make the tip stay in the screw is to fill the head of the screw with Clover valve lapping compound. This abrasive makes the screwdriver tip stay in the screw and sometimes works wonders for you.

Did SO ever sell a driver like this without the ratcheting mechanism?

ACR works great, worked on new BMW X series with standard phillips bits...damaged a lot of screws...with ACR, nothing, perfect fit not damages!

Thought that Snap-on has this only:headscrat

+1.

In addition, when my screwdrivers tips get dirty, I just warranty them.

You can send them too me, and i'll replace them free of charge with ones i have, but the trade must be wiha, wera, so, ect for those cheap wood handled screwdrivers with the crappy square steel tips.:lol_hitti
