Last week I bought A Shopsmith 510 it had been sitting in a high humidity area so it had some rust. I have taken it a part and oiled the motor and sheave and put blue loctite in all the set screws. the inside of the motor cover had some rust I soaked it in vingear removed most of the rust and clear coated it (aka Gas Monkey garage paint job). I put paste wax on all the tubes. This has kept me busy for the last few days. I am getting ready to start using it. Mine had the band saw attachment I like the band saw, The drill press seems like it is going to be a nice addition to the garage. I am not sure if I will use the table saw very much, although a tilting table seems neat. I probably will mainly use lathe, drill press and band saw.

I like the fact that you can still buy any part that ever breaks, and it is still a US company.

I should have taken some before pictures, but didn't think about it.
Now I got clean up some **** and make room for it.

Looks like it cleaned up nicely. Just wax the tubes regularly.

The bandsaw is probably the best attachment. The tilting table for the saw is a royal pain to use. I've probably used it once or twice.

Yes, you can get parts but they are pricey. Fortunately, there are a lot of them for sale if you need organ donors.

Nice find, zktk01. Wish I could find a good used bandsaw attachment, been looking for quite some time with no luck. I haven't used mine much, too much junk in the garage to get to it these days. Show us what you build with it, that would make a great thread and maybe inspire a few folks to kick-start their Shopsmith projects.

Nice find on the 510 with bandsaw. That larger table makes a ton of difference. Don't forget the 12in disk sander, awesome. Now find the belt sander.

Honestly, unless you're doing large scale work, I've found the belt sander to not be very practical. I get a ton of use from my Craftsman 2" belt / 6" disc combo.

The 12" sanding disc is nice - especially with the velcro upgrade.
