Took this project on to clean up a frozen solid spray foam gun
Cleaned one up a few years ago, this is another . A buddy was tossing it,so of course Hoarder Cobbler had to take it.
I'll probably give it back to him when I'm done with it .
took it to pieces as it was solid cured foam inside. nothing moved. used heat to soften the hardened foam & what I think was probably crazy glue on the threads to get it apart . had to grind the blade of a flat screwdriver down to fit inside of the ****** so as to get a good fit . used a long drill bit to clean out the tube and other ports . Lost the spring shown for the check valve on the feed port. it was frozen in to the cured foam , I used some heat to release it while holding with needle nose pliers, but it freed up sooner than I was expecting. it went flying. looked in my stash for a similar one & found a good candidate
started to put it back together and the damn 1/4" ball bearing vanished . ****. I know I have some somewhere. just have to locate them.
I know it's a waste of time in some peoples eyes, but hey, this is garage journal after all.
It's a fairly easy process, just need to be careful of flying parts .
probably an hour process from start to finish if I could have remembered all the steps from the last time I did one , and not lost any parts .
more to come

Nice work. Every once in a while I have to clean up a sprayable seam sealer gun and it’s a PITA. (There’s always that one guy in the shop who will use a shop tool and throw it right back on the shelf with absolutely zero sense of responsibility.)

If you put vaseline on the threads of the can and port it screws into (before installing it) and close the needle valve completely when done foaming, you can usually get a couple months before needing to clean.

When cleaning (if I expect a couple months with no use), I usually use the gun acetone. You can get it anywhere that sells foam. It lets you pressure flush and saves a ton of work.
