I've used toilet bowl cleaner on aluminum and on carb parts. Don't let it dry or it will leave black stains.

Depending on what type of finished you have on the aluminum, I used to use an SOS pad to clean and somewhat polish all of the aluminum on my ATV's. Works pretty good!

Can we see the finished product? :)

I wish. Still trying to get the garage remodel done so I have room to do the projects. I finished wiring today and hopefully drywall tomorrow and Thursday, then install cabinets.

This hasn't stopped me from buying more projects though, in addition to that aluminum Navy locker I've since picked up an old 64 drawer wooden Remington Rand library card catalog to hold nuts/bolts/misc stuff, a Craftsman block grinder and a magazine rack to hold shop manuals, etc... I'm going to look at a Yost vice and an old Craftsman drill press this afternoon. God help me, I can't stop! I blame every person on this site who has posted their restoration projects!

When I do get to the locker I'll post pictures in the original thread. The mag rack I picked up today (and will eventually paint) with the back of the card catalog to the left is the pic below. Really runnung out of room.

Mothers aluminum wheel polish works better than anything I have ever seen. Keep going over it until you get the results you want. You can buy it for a few bucks a jar at Walmart.
