A few years ago I picked up a Kennedy roll-around tool chest and a couple of Snap-On top boxes as a set at an estate sale. I cleaned up the Kennedy box with a lot of elbow grease and various cleaners, making sure to dry everything thoroughly to prevent rust. The Snap-On boxes (these are small 3-4 drawer units) have been sitting on a shelf, as they need some repair and are thoroughly filthy. I'd like to clean them up without a huge amount of effort. I thought that maybe I would load them into my truck and bring them down to the self-serve car wash, and simply blast all the crud off. I'm not worried about the paint, they're pretty beat up. I am worried about the ball-bearing slides and maybe getting soapy water in places that shouldn't have soapy water. Any thoughts on this idea?
