What's the best way to clean all this junk off the floor? Sweeping seems to push it around and distribute the dust and doesn't seem to clean it up. Vacuuming would take FOREVER. Any ideas? TIA!

Have you tried using sweeping compound while sweeping?
To get the floor totally clean, you'll probably end up mopping the floor.

I sanded my floors with 80 grit for the epoxy coat. Took care of the drywall globs like they were never there!!!
If you're able to use water, clean all the big stuff up and go rent a floor buffer. Get a couple of those thick black pads to go with it.
Spray the floor with water. Run the buffer over the floor, back and forth. Rinse. Repeat.
Keep doing this until there is no more "cream" coming off the floor.
This is what I did to my floor prior to etching for epoxy, but it works wonders for mere cleaning.

This is too late for you, but for people who may be getting ready for drywall. Before the tapers start, do NOT give the floor a good sweep. Pickup all the big stuff but leave a layer of dust, that way when the tapers drop mud on the floor it will come up easier than if the floor was clean. Kind of the same principle as putting salt on your coaster so the glass doesn't stick to it.
My dad taught me the drywall trick while I was cleaning up the homes he built. Saves a lot of time with a scaper.

No need for a scraper if you paper the floor first. Drywallers in our area will paper if you ask them. Doesn't solve all the problems but it is better than the dust metheod.
This doesn't solve your problem but when we are getting ready to tape and mud we put down tarps. We don't use the blue kind, but instead get the ones from the lumber yard that cover lumber during shipping. The lumber yard just throws them away and we can reuse them many times.
