Cleaning mouse rodent droppings from epoxy floor

I was gone for about a month on vacation and in that time the rodents went wild on my new epoxy floor. They also got into my cars but the question here is how to clean the floor. I had one pile that dripped out of a hole in my trunk onto the floor. It left a tar like stain on the floor that I had to remove with a wide scraper. But once scraped off I couldn't clean the stain with alcohol. Haven't tried anything else but open to suggestions.

That happened in a month?

How'd you get rid of the infestation?

Bleach and water mix, and a stiff brush, should work.

Yes 1 month, I was on vacation touring America. Got back early November. I guess it was main nesting season. Just getting warm enough to open the doors and wash. I will be giving it a try shortly. Hopefully the bleach will do it.

Thanks

Try SuperClean, the purple stuff or an equivalent.

Dawn would probably work too. You need a strong water-based detergent, not an organic solvent. (The mouse poo was water-based originally, of course, and you’ll have better luck with like-dissolving-like.)

I’d probably put a wet towel over the soiled area for a few hours before coming in with the detergents and scrubbing. Time is your friend in trying to resolubilize the mess. But I wouldn’t leave a strong alkaline cleaner like SuperClean on the epoxy any longer than necessary.

Sodium hypochlorite bleach is a fine disinfectant, and a very good idea. Use it at about 1:10 in water. But it isn’t a cleaner or a detergent.

Something I removed from a crawl space beneath a late 1940's SFR ranch-house in Miami. The house had been vacant for a few months. We had a pest control business seal any possible points of entry into the crawl space or the attic, or at utility penetrations. I suspect this may have been trapped inside and met a 'Gene Hackman end.' Strange I had no odor evident when this may have happened. The crawl space has cross-flow ventilation screened by 1/4" WWM.

You'll definitely want to put bait traps around the OUTSIDE perimeter of your home come September and several peanut butter garnished snap traps inside now. Seems like you may have a severe rodent issue.

I was able to get the power washer out as this week warmed up a bit. The power washer seems to take off all the footprints with just water. The heavy buildups came off with a ZEP machine de greaser.

Thanks everyone.
