So i inadvertantly fill my inside of the garage with dust from cutting patio stones. I was cutting behind the garge and the wind was taking it around the corner so i thought great... till i realized 2hrs ltr the side window was open so now have a nice layer of cement dust covering everything inside. I was thinking of getting the leaf blower and opening the door and start at one end and work my way out. Any other tips?

Classic age-old problem of sending dust "anywhere but right here" by dispersion into a (hopefully!) wider area or concentrating it via brrom+ dustpan, shop vacuum (etc). I always like concentrating it but there are other times the first works too.

First step. Dust mask. Kicking that dust up in an enclosed space will play hell on your sinuses. I would wait till a breezy day, when the breeze is blowing away from the house and cars. Open windows and doors. Put fans blowing in windows and doors. Blow dust out roll up door.

I always try to wait for a rainy day with a good cross breeze from man door to overhead door to blow down my shop . I use a variable speed blower . I would sweep up what could on the floor first and then go from there .

Yah its not just settled on the floor is onshelves and basically anything inside the garage. Dust bane is great for the floor. Im sure this will take a few tries to get most of it out. Oh well lesson learned haha.

Yes i know about protecting my lungs!! Im a bricklayer and deal with silica on a daily basis

If using a shop vac which will do a good job with your problem, suggest you put the vac outside with a long hose to **** up the dust inside. A shop vac must expel as much air as it ***** in so the exhaust from it if the vac is inside the garage will just blow dust everywhere again.

What about one of those hose attachments that has the nylon bristles on it? Hook it up to a shop vac. Would be time consuming. Move your items outside and blow them off with air compressor? Use shop vac to clean up the rest.

When I went to work in a shop for the first time I used an air hose to blow some stuff out the door. The owner educated me thusly; If you blow that out the door it will come right back in on the tires of the next rig. We sweep or vacuum to clean. I have stuck with that ever since. Or as heard through the transom window of an old hotel once, **** dammit, blow is a misnomer.

In your case I could see cleaning my way first then having to blow some to remove dust from some high places, but only enough to move it onto the floor to be picked up.

my son showed this trick
dont need to put the shop vac outside, just use a large hose to put the exhaust outside.
I put an old sock over the hose and wet it.acts like a cheap throwaway filter.
**** as much up as you can with the wet vac then use compressed air to blow down what ever wont blow away.OR you could get one of those risque maids that show up in a French maid outfit to "dust" for you.

Well used the leaf blower and it worked better then i expected. Got alot of dust out of places id prob never cleaned. Opened the over head door and the man door on the opposite side and cleared it out no prob. Hardly a trace left and i did it 3 times. Waited 20 mins in between for anything to settle. Being concrete dust it doesnt really stain cling to much.

Thanks for the pointers all is well in the garage today

i always throw a water hose on the floor running and then get the leaf blower and start blowing, the dust hits the water, then I just rinse the floor off

if you do alot of welding and grinding, the harbor freight magnet sweep works great, the big 36 inch not the little one
