What is the best way to keep SO screwdrivers with the Instinct handles clean? Mine seem to get dirty really fast, and I'm not sure what would be best to clean the handles with.

I use GOOP ORANGE on plier grips with excellent results. The NON pumice cream. Lather/Rinse.

Simple Green. Wipe a little on a shop towel and wipe them down.

That stuff is corrosive if not rinsed off; same with the citrus based hand cleaner I mentioned.

I use MEK or IPA on my soft grip handles, I woudl think it would be fine for the instinct handles, too. Don't know, I can't stand them.

I have been looking at getting a new set of snapon screwdrivers and noticed the new "instinct" handles; what exactly don't you like about them? I actually still like the old school black handles and the generation after that. Any comments appreciated!

409 or something similiar works for me. However as with most soft grip tools, once they get dirty, they stay dirty. Unless of course you use the Merkava technique, which is to never actually use the tool except to lightly dust or polish it.
I would suggest soap and hot water, followed by several coats of simonize wax followed by a light buffing to bring out the shine.
Seriously how about just wiping them with a rag and putting them back in the drawer. They are just tools.

I wipe my handles down with a rag dampened with CorrosionX... seems to work pretty good and have had no ill effects.
Then again, Merkava would be the board expert on clean tools. I would seriously listen to his advice.

Don't they have to get dirty before you can clean them and become an expert at cleaning them? Did that make sense?

I know they are just tools, but the handles get to feeling greasy and when I'm just quickly tightening up something for someone, I don't want to have to go wash my hands just because my screwdriver handle wasn't clean. I'm not saying it has to shine, just so I can keep them dirt and grease free at least semi-regularly.

I've seen guys on both sides of the issue. One guy I worked with would never clean anything. The only time his tools got cleaned was when somebody borrowed one.
Another guy would spend an hour at the end of the day cleaning all of his tools in the parts washer. One time the manager told him he needed to clock out before he cleaned his tools, because he wasn't being paid to clean tools. I though he was going to cry.

I clean them if it gets to the point where if I touch it I can't touch a customer's car. I always wipe chrome though, it's so easy.

Just wash them in the parts washer...... its just a screwdriver all ready does anyone here really use there tools or are they just for bragging rights

I wipe my tools off with a rag when I'm done with a job.
I haven't had my Instinct screwdrivers long enough to get them good and dirty, but the handles do look like they could collect some nastiness. I'll just keep wiping them off after I use them... until they're good and gross, then clean them proper.

Eh, I just like the feel of the older style soft grips better, the instinct handle just doesn't fit my paws.

That white creamy hand cleaner that GOOP and Go-Jo makes is what I use to clean the silicone rubber grips on my Dremel; and the white stuff doesn't need to be rinsed. Rub it on and watch the dirt dissolve and then wipe it off with a dry cotton towel; makes it look freakin' brand new! 
I'm thinking the silicone rubber grips on the Dremel are pretty dang similar to the SO Instinct grips.

Dex, Your on the right track, however. You don't use Simonize Wax. You have to use Snap-On Tool Wax. It is formulated for tools. They also make Snap-On Tool Box Wax. It is available as a paste or liquid.
For soft handle tools it is recommended that antibacterial soap be used to keep the germs from contaminating the outer skin. If this is impractical, Snap-On now sells "Tool Condoms" to slip on your tools to keep them in like new condition, and cuts down on cleaning time.

To the OP: Seriously, just wipe teh handles down with some CorrosionX or WD-40 or whatever you have around the garage. then wipe the handles clean with some paper towel. Put the screwdrivers away, head inside and have a beer. Problem solved.

Knowing you and your Snap-On tools, I was a little worried where this was going.
It still may go there if I find out where Chad keeps his KRL1003.

Ummm...What is the number to that place? I need it... I mean a friend of mine needs it.I just took a spray bottle of glass cleaner from the detail dept at work and use that on them if they cant be cleaned just by using a rag, easiest thing for me is to wipe the wrench/screwdriver etc. after I use it unless time doesnt allow me, keeps them clean enough that my fingerprints are all over the costumers car...they dont like that for some reason
