Looking for suggestions on cleaning soft handled tools, such as the craftsmen professional screwdrivers.
I used simple green over the weekend and noticed it left the soft handled tools feeling tacky.

Suggestions?

Thanks, Jack

Awesome from dollar general is what I use

Awesome citrus based cleaner is amazing for everything from light cleaning to degressing. I have found that a little wd40 (liquid, not aerosol), awesome and a little marvels mystery oil works wonder at cleaning and dressing plastics and rubber. I try to avoid harsh solvents with plastics, as they will quickly degrade.

I've had good luck with Purple Power. At least on newer or fresh dirt and grime. Some of the stuff that's soaked into the handles takes a little more soak time and elbow grease.

I use starting fluid. Don't know what it is but mine did the same thing until I cleaned them a few times. Now .no more slime. This was over 10 years ago and I use them daily. No damage to the handles. Maybe it is a release agent left on there or something like that.

Yep.

I use Windex or some type of glass cleaner 90% of the time.
5% I use scrubs.
5% I gotta break out the 3M adhesive remover or Naptha or something caustic.

WD40 makes a slippery grip for me and anything like acetone, BrakeKleen, MEK, etc WILL eat into the plastic and soften/degrade it over time. That's been proven and any plastics engineer will confirm.

Use the mildest you can and move up as necessary if you care to keep the tool. BTDT.

anything you use to clean your hands that isn't solvent based.

also using mineral oil works pretty well also, doesn't leave a slick finish either, works really well.
