Clear Epoxy suggestions raw concrete

Requesting recommendation for a product to do my 900 sq ft garage mainly to protect from salt damage. Garage is 1 year old, with some minor salt etching from last winter. I got smarter and now garage is covered with g-floor, however I don't like the fact that water actually is trapping below the g-flooring. Concrete is in relatively good shape as I have tried to protect it from spills, etc. I like the simple raw look of concrete so I am specifically looking for a clear solution without color.

I believe I just want a clear epoxy. Legacy? Epoxy Coat?

I have thought the same question, I think from what I understand is the 'prep' work is the most critical part of the process.

If it was me I would pick an area not very visible and prep it and then test one of the solutions you wanted to use. Then put some oil/chemicals on it to see if it works.

Chances are if you use a clear epoxy over concrete you are going to see discoloration and yellowing over time. There are a handful of potential exceptions, but even then, with enough UV they will yellow.

We have a clear urethane that will work. You might want to check with Scotty @ Legacy about perhaps doing an acrylic floor finish.

Re testing... If you want to do your own testing, buy a cement block and put a couple coats on it. They are porous so the coverage will be terrible.

So silly question, but if a clear epoxy applied over concrete tends to yellow, would one even be able to see the yellowing due to the dark gray concrete that is beneath?

Absolutely, positively, maybe

Bottom line, there are better products than epoxy for simple clear coats. A sealer would also cost you substantially less and may require less prep. With urethane, depending on the route, some do not work so well directly over concrete others do.

Also depending on how fast you are able to work, there are some other systems available that may be a good option for you. I know Scotty has one that can be done in a day.

more to Justin point.....all epoxy will yellow or chalk even the"hybrids UV stable epoxies will yellow in time depending on the amount of UV and exposure limits...however I'm sure you can find a urethane or acrylic that might work.....Check you local industrial paint store "if available" or get with Scotty from legacy.
