Hello guys I have searched and failed to find info on this topic. I shall be receiving my new snap on classic 78 soon with a stainless top work surface and hutch. My questions is if anyone has clear coated the work surface to protect it. I Know It Can Be Done. I'm looking for positive or negative feedback to help me make my decision. Also note this will be professionally cleared with automotive clear and baked so it will be a good clear application. Thank you

personally id get it clear powder coated, be more durable but no matter what its likely to get scratched in a auto enviroment.

personally id leave it or get a mat to cover/protect it. maybe even sheet perspex

Clear coat will eventually scratch or chip or wear off, while you can keep bare stainless steel in good shape pretty much indefinitely - just clean it up with Scotchbrite once in a while.

Thanks for the posts guys. I will look into powder coat as we do have a powder coat place with a big oven as they are big in powder coating race cars. I may try it and put up my feedback. I can always sand it off and scotch bright the surface

Save your money. Stainless steel top will hold up to more than powder coat or clear coat. It will outlast you.
