Clearcoating over decals, posters, etc?

I've seen where people have clearcoated emblems and such into their floors, but how hard do you think it would be to clearcoat a decal or a poster into a fridge door?

If clearcoating a poster, should it be laminated first?

Can't see why it wouldn't work. Just use a high solids urethane (PPG 2001) and mist the first few coats on to keep the edges from lifting.

The only problem I've found is that the clear won't keep the image from fading. As long as it's not in direct light it should be ok.
