Clearing out search

OK, Now I am not the the sharpest tool in the shed but I would like to know how do I clear out the search history? I click on search and a blank page appears. Then as I am typing the menu drops down displaying my past search history.How do I go about deleting the history?
This is a great forum and sees lots of traffic.Thanks, Ken

inline autocomplete I believe is what it is (least for IE). Clear all cookies and history in your browser.

The autocomplete does this for multiple sites. Simply highlight the terms and press delete to remove.
