Do you mean a Columbian 603 1/2"? May or may not have M3 on it? They were made in Cleveland and said so in the casting. Cleveland was not the brand.

According the Columbian numbering system that's a 3 1/2" vise with a swivel base.

That's probably about a 30 pound vise and if it's a made in the USA version probably pretty stout for a vise of that weight.

Arguments could be made for a value of anywhere from $30 to $75.

Voi sounds right on and we could always use a little more vise **** for our vices to maybe give you some advice on any issues or repairs needed if any.

Hi and welcome to the GJ, don't worry about the mistake I make at least a few each week. At $1.00 per pound somewhere between $30.00 to $50.00 dollars assuming it weighs about 30lbs.

I'd say it takes more than one hand to count my weekly mistakes, however small.

Welcome aboard as well!

No worries. Did you buy it or are you considering it?

Here is what an older one looks like (courtesy of Banditbigdog).

Notice the T shaped jaws and Columbian cast in a curved fashion.

Modern ones are still ductile iron and made in the USA, as far as I know, but don't have the T shaped jaws and have very little cast into the vise body other than Columbian and possibly M3. See Ebay for examples.

There have been a lot of versions of this vise so above doesn't cover it all.

if you might need any help with the vise restore you might want to add a few pictures and most of us would be happy to if you need any questions answered. you can either save to your computer and use the paperclip above where we are writing or if you have an online account like Photobucket you can save pictures there and put a link in your post for a bigger picture.

good luck
