Bought these last night at an auction. Made about 40 miles west of me, in Fairbury NE.
About all I can find is that they closed due to labor and material shortages during WW2, and never reopened.
In 20 years, I've only seen 2-3 of these.

Sweet find! It's nice to find well-known and desirable pieces, but personally, I like the small unique jobbies like this the best. If I'm understanding the operation of the tool correctly from the pic, the floating jaw has 4 adjustable positions and that handle on the spring pin provides the motion and tension for "clicking" it into place in the various capacity positions?

Lugnutz,
Yes, you are right. The pin locks the fulcrum for the lever to cam against.
Heelspur,
Does yours work with this missing? Mine appears to be complete.
Silverdeck,
Glad to see someone local also!

Did someone say Cornhuskers?

I'm from Omaha, a UNL/UNO alum, and I've been to Fairbury. Can't say that I've been to Rockford, but I watched the TV show a few times.

I saw one in the "Wrenching News" auctions and in the description it said something was missing on it. But it looks just like ours. Not sure what auction it was in.

there are two versions of this tool. the earlier version patent No. 2325245 has an adjuster screw but the newer one patent No. 2358858 doesn't have the screw.

Hi Farmall 1066,
I also have a pair of Click Pliers and love them. I have used this pair for many years. I was curious as to what they were valued at when I came across this forum. So thank you for posting this as I have only seen a handful of old timers that still have them.

Looks like plenty of pictures have been posted already. I found this thread during a search and had to dredge it up to say I joined the Click Plier Club.

Pretty neat contraption, the way the U? J? shaped rod locks into the four positions.
