Sweet. I just picked up a couple for myself and fathers day. Also grabbed a pair of pliers. I was able to use my Chase rewards points as well so it didn't cost me anything.

I like the Larry 2 by Nebo for my similar light. It also has a laser pointer

Mine just arrived. Clever light. Very bright and the magnet function works well but perhaps not attached to something that is vibrating. This light is well worth the $$.

Anyone know how this compares to the Craftsman one that is $6 right now? The CM one has an ok magnet, seems pretty bright, and can rest at a 45 degree sideways.

Well, didnt really need this, but I got 2 for just over $20 shipped with Prime. I figure they will come in handy in the garage when Im crawling around under a dash or undercarriage.

Yeah, these are crazy bright for the size. I like that they're not directional beam but wide angle. The light is wide, even, and bright. Lights up a small room no problem. Will be handy under the hood and for roadside emergencies.

Got one for each vehicle and the house/shop.

Got my two this morning, thank you to the OP.

Magnet is not very strong, wont stay horizontal on a vertical surface if that makes any sense. the magnet is in the clip. my gf asked if it was supposed to be a hilighter.

very bright, i blinded myself when i removed the battery protector thing. forgot i had hit the power button and when i put the cap on yikes. lights up the 2 car garage decent but being a flood the intensity drops off pretty quick.

feels good in your hand, mine at least, theyre not real big. reasonably heavy. plastic will get dirty pretty quick probably.

price is up to 10.45 or something, but i may still get one or two more.

installing a head unit in my 94 FZJ80 this week so I will put it to good use very soon

The Craftsman have a magnet in the end opposite the power button. It's not nearly as useful as having the magnet on the clip or back, IMO. They're still not bad though. I gave a few as Xmas gifts, and everybody loves them.

I recently bought one of the Larry lights for about $10, and I think I like it better than the Craftsman ones but haven't put it up to a true test yet. That should change this week since I have a few projects to get done.

These things are great right out of the box - very bright. We'll see how long they last though. Really cool little lights.

Got mine yesterday, thanks to the OP for letting us know about this. Very bright and small size lets me poke around in the nooks and crannies of my engine compartment even during daytime while I look for that mysterious water leak. Magnet is strong enought to hang it on the firewall while I use both hands to move things around. I may epoxy another button magnet on the end so it can stand up or hang downwards.

The Lux Pro mentioned by LineCrosser is 100 lumens brighter for a couple of bucks more! Wow! Looks to be in the same package as this Cliplight. Probably made in the same factory in China ...

the lux pro has 3 function switch.single led on top and hi lo on the strip.and its brighter.
I bought both and yeah they seem to be made in the same factory.

LineCrosser,

Which has the stronger magnet on the swiveling clip, the Clipstrip or the LuxPro?

Thanks,

Dave

I just bought the LuxPro from Lowe's just today and already received my Clipstrip from Amazon thanks to the OP. Well a comparison test by me......and the results are the LuxPro has the brighter light and the Clipstrip has the better magnet. The LexPro also has a flashlight function. If I had to vote for one over the other, I'd give my vote to the LuxPro. I'll probably pickup a couple more.

Wow, technology marches on. I decided to compare the Lux-Pro-220 to my Milwaukee M12 LED Stick Light:

-brightness, lumens
Lux-Pro 220
Milwaukee 220

-weight, lbs
Lux-Pro 0.2
Milwaukee 0.55

-battery life, hrs
Lux-Pro 2.5
Milwaukee -

Milwaukee doesn't state the runtime on their rechargeable 12v battery , but cpooutlets states 4+ hours [ battery size is not stated].
Size? Lux-Pro fits in a shirt pocket; Milwaukee hangs out of the front pocket of my blue jeans.
Cost- almost no comparison. Lux-Pro: $11.22; don't recall how much I paid for the Milwaukee light, I think it came as part of a package deal with another tool. cpooutlets says $79 with no battery.

Which would you buy?

I think I'll pick up the LuxPro model tomorrow. It is on sale at Lowe's for $7.47 thru 6/15/15: LINK.

I wasn't impressed with the magnet on the Clipstrip. It can't hold itself horizontal on my fridge. I think my Larry light has a stronger magnet, but I haven't had them together to directly compare.

Super Sport,

I too tested the Larry Light a few months ago at a local hardware store. It started to slide downward after placing it horizontally on a magnetic surface. I tested the LuxPro model at Lowe's on a magnetic surface and it did the same thing. If I do buy the LuxPro (since it's cheaper and brighter than the Larry Light), I will epoxy a few small rare earth magnets on the back of the rotating magnetic clip.

This afternoon, I purchased the Lux-Pro 220 lumen flashlight at Lowe's for $7.47. I had to test a few flashlights at the store before picking out mine. I noticed that when clicking the "on" button to the high setting (220 lumens) and shaking it for several seconds, slight electrical breaks occurred in the light stream or the light completely turns off (with one unit). For anyone that purchased this flashlight and has not used it, I would recommend testing it.

Can anyone tell me if the LuxPro can be tested in store? i.e. does it light up in the package? I'd like to take in my Menards light and compare before buying the LuxPro. Thx.

bfm336,

The 3 included "AAA" batteries are pre-installed in the Lux-Pro flashlight. The "on" button is exposed through the plastic packaging. The flashlight will operate in all 3 settings at the store (low: 80 lumens, high: 220 lumens, and top flashlight mode).

bfm336,

I tested last week the $3.99 Menard's SMD 200 lumens flashlight. It was just as bright as the COB Lux-Pro 220 lumens flashlight at Lowe's. The Menard's flashlight has an aluminum body and the Lux-Pro is plastic. Both the Menard's and Lux-Pro have a pivoting magnetic clip. The magnet embedded within the plastic clip is weak in both flashlights. The Menard's started to slide downward after placing it horizontally on a magnetic surface. I tested the LuxPro model at Lowe's on a magnetic surface and it did the same thing. This evening, I modified the Lux-Pro and epoxied 2 small rare earth magnets on the back of the rotating magnetic clip.

I should have bought more from Menards - they are back up to $9.

On another note the menards one is sold under another brand on Amazon for $20 and is highly rated.

Bought the Lowes one this weekend to compare with the Cliplight. The extra functions of the Lowe's are nice, but I like the Cliplight better. The Lowe's clip and magnet broke off after about 5 minutes of use in the garage. It also has a loose connection or something as the brightness will change when you jiggle it. Side-to-side, I'd say the Cliplight is brighter also. Both still aren't bad for the price. The $4 Menards one sounds even better, too bad there aren't any Menards in the PNW.

Of the three Luxpro's only one has a switch that works. If they worked they would be good flashlights. I'm sending them back.
