Asking with full respect and not trying to start any issues but why do some threads get shut down and some just vanish into the ether?

It looks like my thread on pizza chains went bye bye and I really didn't see any name calling. I may have been very blunt on people not answering the question I asked but shouldn't that be the right of the person that started the thread to keep it on topic?

If someone completely deletes a thread shouldn't they at least pm the person that started it and tell them why or tell them what not to do? As of now I'm not sure if it was closed because someone thought I was a jerk (quite possible) or if someone else got out of hand.

as for what I generally see, there are 3 pretty active mods on here aside from Ryan, ( I know there are more, but day to day, I notice 3 of them). Cant really reasonably expect that they are spending all of their time corralling the members into behaving, deleting posts, handing out slaps on the wrist, and messaging and explaining to each offending person why, and they absolutely shouldn't have to. We're adults and it was a thread about pizza, that, from some of the posts I saw, some were taking too seriously.

First of all, I didn't close or delete it but I do see where it looked like it was beginning to be a bickering match.

Second, yes I did move this thread to the appropriate section of the forum.

3rd, I highly doubt you're going to get a PM when a thread is edited, closed or deleted unless you crossed way over the line Then you might want to consider it a warning rather than an explanation.

To me it just seems odd to not give someone the courtesy of an explanation. This is a fairly well behaved forum so I can't believe that you mods delete that many threads per day. I try to be civil for the most part and haven't had an actual infraction in 9 years. I can't be that much of a jerk. No big deal, in the future I will just do my best to try not to cross the line that I don't know where it's at.

Anyway, thanks for responding and moving my question to the correct forum.

Ryan runs a tight ship here and for good reason. This place along with many other forums out there can get out of hand very quick. Which is why the mods and Ryan stay on top of it. They do a great job and have their hands full daily.
All of them are really good about giving a fair amount of warning before they close a thread.

They do, I really don't have any beef with it getting closed because my question really was getting lost and not answered. I just didn't know why some get closed and some get clipped altogether.

Personally I'm glad this isn't a free for all around here.
