I have a 12’ wide X 10’ tall Clopay garage door that I installed myself when I built my pole building. I want to make this door 11’ tall. I have clearance under the beam, and under the trusses for the higher tracks. Originally bought the door from 84 Lumber who no longer sells Clopay which is a shame caused I have added height to one other door here already and it worked great at the time just ordering parts through 84 lumber.

Was wondering if anyone has a suggestion where I could buy vertical track, new springs of course, and more importantly.. either a 12” X 12’ door panel, OR two 18” X 12’ door panels to get the 11’ overall height? Everything I am finding is door dealers and it’s just too involved dealing with them… I don’t want a used car, just these door parts. I do my own stunts and they dont like that.

Have you tried home depot? They sell clopay I'm pretty sure.

Clopay and Ideal doors are the same company I believe so you could try menards as well.

The couple i have tried are not interested. Fishing for a bigger fish. Thanks.
Contact Clopay customer service. Tell them what you want and ask for the part numbers. Tell them of the difficulty you had with the dealers and ask them what to do. I doubt that they will sell direct, but it is possible. They may contact a dealer for you and set it up.

The path forward is very simple. You need the manufacturing codes, serial numbers, etc. from Clopay: https://www.clopaydoor.com/blog/post/blog/2016/09/28/can-i-replace-my-garage-door-panels

They will be on a sticker on the side of one of your panels. If you don't have the sticker or took it off when you got the original door, then its game over and you'll have to get a new door. If you have the numbers, then Clopay can make an additional panel.

On top of that, you will need an entirely new track set. (You can't just extend your current tracks easily -> You'll notice that they slope away from the wall as the door moves up.) You will also need different springs, cables, drums, etc. for the different runouts and weights that will be left on springs during the door travel.

I too am raising my garage door height (to support install of a lift). Yes, you have to get an all new track set, otherwise the door will not work correctly.

I contacted a Clopay Master Authorized Dealer near me. They could get me anything I want, track sets, door panels, etc.

However, for the price they quoted me (installed or just parts), I just decided it was more "cost effective" to let them come in for a few hours and do it for me. This way it is done right (no binding, squealing or racking due to incorrect installation) and it is guaranteed. I also decided to convert all my doors to wall mounted springs and openers. Yeah, it is costing more to do that, but that does open up more room on the ceiling.

Not sure if I understand that comment ? Every door or door part I have needed in the last 40 years I have sourced from a couple of local door companies. They were more than happy to take my money and get me exactly what I needed.

Have you actually tried calling one of your local dealers or are you just guessing that is what they will be like ??

Crazy.

I went to the local O/H door place Monday and ordered a panel for my Wayne Dalton door. They were happy to help, take my $$ and the owner walked out to check the warehouse to make sure they didn't have a panel laying around.

That has always been my experience also. Matter of fact one of the local ones is trying to find a replacement panel for one of my 25 year old doors at the shop. There has been absolutely no effort to sell me a new door.
