Closed cell spray foam between perlins.

For those with spray foamed pole buildings, would you mind sharing a pic of the inside of your roof?

Local company is doing 3" of closed cell under the roof of mine and says it will not be an issue to just fill the area between the perlins.

This will make it easier to install steel interior panels directly to the perlins but will this be a problem if they are not entirely enclosed or insignificant?

Perlins are 2x4 on 24" centers.

There will be spray foam on the bottom edges of those 2 x 4's. There is no way the installer will spay foam and not get some on the edges and that could effect how the panels lay on the 2 x 4's. Better question to worry about; Is that roof system designed with a weight rating to handle having something attached to the bottom of the perlins versus putting the panels on the bottom chord of the rafter?

I spoke with the builder (Wick) and was told I could install metal interior panels directly to the perlins, no problem.

3 inches of closed cell is marginal ceiling insulation for your area.

Get some 2" hi den foam boards. Cut it down to 6" strips. Attach to bottom of purlins. Then when they spray, they can do the sides of the purlins and you will have a flat insulated surface to attach your panels.
3" sounds a bit odd, They can spray up to 2" a pass so 4" would just be the material cost additional.

It was done yesterday and thicker than I expected. (most of the purlins on the roof are buried).

Looks like I'll have to build something for interior panels to attach to.

Another photo when you can?....did you also spray sidewalls?....can you share a unit price? Did they apply in one pass? Volleyball has mentioned in other posts about the 2" max per layer (I had never heard that before) wondering what the concerns are and if there were any issues with excessive heat or improper curing if applied too thick?

The 2" is for hi density, low density is not limited

Here are some pics. Attaching to perlins isn't happening. I think I might just do a pine ceiling. Boards screwed into the bottom of the top chords.

Is the ceiling all hi density or did they put low density under it?
