Mechanics use to carry them around in their pocket along with a pocket knife. It was kind of like a do it all tool. My first boss gave me one off the snap on truck after like a year of working with him. I remember being very happy about it. I still have it.

I have a pair identical, I think, to mashguys that I bought off the truck in the mid 90s. Think mine were 5ACP.

Seriously useful tool. Bought mine because I was doing a lot of mechanical assembly work at the time and they looked handy. Truth is, you can get them in to a lot of places that you can't get in with even needle nose / snipe nose pliers as these are slim, rather than tapered.

Snap On offer something similar now, and presumably cheaper to make, but doesn't look as nicely made as these.
