I am looking to get a second set of screwdrivers, right now I have a set of snap ons that I like but sometimes they are too nice for how I need to use them. Also I was looking to get something that I could get warrantied easier than my snap ons as I am a home guy I have to send it off and waited for a replacement.

I was looking at the cm pro's but the gearwrench also caught my eye. Anyone have the regular non ratcheting gearwrench screwdrivers and like them? Just looking for any advice thanks guys.

Craftsman are USA made an the easiest warranty in tools. Made by western forge. The GW are made in asia somewhere. Where would you be able to warranty the GW that would be easier than sears?

GearWrench 20 piece set runs about $80. C'man Pro 20 piece set runs about $110 for the same pieces.

While GearWrench are 2/3rds the cost, I's make sure I have a reputable local source to warranty the GW's out should there ever be a problem.

For the C'man, the abundance of Sears stores and open stock makes any warranty work easier.

Screwdrivers can last a long time if not often used or can wear, chip, twist or break if used daily. BTDT.

I keep C'man Pros for home use and have never lost any sleep over that purchase. Williams, Wera, PB Swiss and Wiha are also good choices but less readily avlailble at teh local level in most cases.

i have a fairly complete set of each. you cant go wrong with either. advance auto carries open stock gearwrench so warranty is not a problem. just pick whichever feels better in your hand

I prefer Klein screwdrivers, and I have a set of SO and been through many c man

Klein Tools warranty covers any defects in quality or workmanship. It does not cover a tool if the tool simply wears out or has obviously been abused.

All Klein Tools distributors are required to process warranty returns.

If you have a problem with a warranty return, you may want to consider using a different distributor because most of our distributors perform this process without hesitation. They know we back up our products and provide them prompt credit for warranty returns.

To review specific warranty by product group, please review

Beware - The newer craftsman pro's are much softer than the old ones.

love my old ones, hate the new one's

that surprises me, I have some of the older black handle craftsman pro's and have found them to be pretty soft and also the grooves ground into the flat heads seem to weaken them quite a bit. I have had to warranty two of the flatheads because while loosening some tight screws the tip actually "ripped" along the grind line. now the new pro philips drivers might be a little soft as I can see a bit of wear on my #2 but so far have been pretty happy with them and the handles on the new ones are about my most favorite of all that I have.

I like my Craftsman Pro's a lot, I've never used the Gearwrench version. You may want to also give the Husky Pro's a look, they are pretty nice and Home Depots are pretty much everywhere for replacements.

I do not own any gearwrench screwdrivers but I do have a set of the western forge pro screwdrivers and they are very nice and of course if they break you can get the same day replacement.

I do not want too sound like a broken record and of course you would have to mail them in and wait for a replacement but the williams screwdrivers are top notch ; (plus I don't think you can destroy them unless you use them like a prybar).

The husky pro screwdrivers are USA made by western forge and are easily warranted. Very comfortable grips and a lifetime warranty

I like the Williams I think that is the way to go. Is there a combination set instead of buying the 6 piece slotted and 6 piece Phillips? Really only looking for like 3 slotted and 3 Phillips

I used the CMAN pros daily. No problems.

You can also get basically the same screwdrivers under the Huskey Pro label at Home Depot.

I have used the Husky pro's and was not a fan. I am really leaning to the Williams ones. I am looking at the 100P-5MD and just adding a single larger phillips to complete the set. I am confused on which one it would be though. Is it the SDP-3-6 or SDP-4-6? Also If I go through http://www.toolsdelivered.com will the warranty still be valid? I know with Snap on's I have to provide a receipt for warranty purposes as I have no dealer just mail in.

The SDP-3-6 would be the next logical phillips screwdriver to go with that set. It's a #3 phillips tip with a 6" shaft. The set comes with a #1 and #2 phillips.

I have the SO version of those and they are good screwdrivers. As for the warrenty, according to this http://www.snaponindustrialbrands.com/DSN/wwwsnaponindustrialbrandscom/Content/PDF/Snap-on-Industrial-Brands-Warranty.pdf it shouldn't be an issue as long as ToolsDelivered is an authorized Snap-on Industrial Brands distributor?

I have a set of craftsman pro screwdrivers but Torx. They are good and durable. I will also say that I have had the same 8pc set of Snap on screwdrivers since the soft grip came out. I broke ONE. That was due to me using it as a punch, prybar and a chisel. You know all the things it says on the tool that you are not supposed to use it as. Snap on guy warrantied it and laughed and said what were you prying? Really who uses that big flat blade screwdriver in that set as anything but a prybar? Use the Snap ons they are not too nice they are tools not conversation pieces. I will be replacing the CM pro torx with Snap on soon but cant seem to wear them out to justify doing it.

Craftsman pro or husky pro. Easy warranty are are very good. Kline are very soft tip, no where as good as older klines. They cam out fast if you use them heavy. I have the newer cman pros, while they are not as hard as the wiha tips. They are good quality.

I have some of both. The Craftsman pros would probably be the easiest to warranty right now. However, all of the Sears around me have greatly reduced their Craftsman Pro Screwdriver open stock selection and they may go the way of Craftsman Pro pliers.
Which Gearwrench screwdrivers do you speak of the black/red soft grips or the red hardgrips? Both are made in Taiwan. I think they're comfortable but the blades are a little on the light side. all gearwrench markings will evaporate with first contact with Brake Clean on the softgrips.
If you want gearwrench screwdrivers, I'd look at cripe distributing for a set or two.

I have a set that is marked "K-D Tools" but looks identical to the yellow and black Klein cushion grip line. I'm going to guess that these are just rebranded Klein screwdrivers. I got them expecting them to be passable screwdrivers to supplement the couple of Craftsman screwdrivers I have, until I found a set I really liked. Instead, I found myself using the K-Ds almost exclusively, and without finding any complaints. Really a pleasant surprise, they are indestructible and comfortable to use. Those weird black rubber cushion grips turn out to stay in place (I had expected them to begin slipping off around the second use) and are much better for holding on to than the hard plastic grips I'm used to. The largest flat head is, yes, a miniature pry-bar 98% of the time, and does an excellent job of it. None of my abuse fazes it in the slightest. I could stick just the blade in something and hang off of it, wouldn't be a problem. The smallest flat head is great for all sorts of [not necessarily screw-driving] uses too, because the shank is just ground down to form the blade, rather than the blade being significantly wider, allowing it to get into all sorts of tight spots.

I only have the 5-piece set, but I'd get the 8-piece set to have the two stubby drivers, which are invaluable. $60 on Amazon, not bad.
