The 4th of July paper ad in today's mail lists the store price as 50% off of $99.99 while the online price is 50% off of $89.99. The walk-in store matched the online price for me a couple of weeks ago.

I bought one of each set, just because the price was right. They've done pretty well so far, unlike the lame-*** HF sockets that deformed on the first use and had to be returned.

Also... those "lame-***" HF sockets. Were they the Pittsburgh impacts or the Pittsburgh Pro impacts? I've been going back and forth between the Pittsburgh Pro and Tektons for some Deep Impact sockets. Now these are in the fray.

Let's keep this thread about the quality of the CMAN product. Whether or not the HF products are any good should be discussed in the HF threads. With that in mind, I'm happy with the quality of this CMAN set after a few preliminary uses.

Something that I liked about this set rather than the competitors' sets was the sizing of the sockets.

I like a 1/2" socket set to be sized on the large size, without a lot of overlap between it an a 3/8" set. I don't see any value in adding sizes at the small end, because those parts are cheap to include in the set, because those parts already overlap with 3/8" sets, and because you don't need a 1/2" impact for a small sized fastener.

a 12-piece set is also a better value if it doesn't skip a lot of common/necessary sizes and it adds sizes at the large end of the size range, rather than at the small end of the range, as the large sockets are more expensive to include in the set.

The fractional set doesn't skip any sizes as it progresses in 1/16" increments.
The metric set does skip some uncommon sizes at the large end of the scale, though it doesn't skip some more useful sizes (16mm, 18mm) like the HF Pro set.

I have these sets. Purchased them a couple years ago. They have held up well working on my cars in my garage. One caution is that they are thick walled. My Ford Focus with aftermarket winter wheels uses an 18mm socket for the lug nuts but due to the thick wall on these sockets they will not fit into the wheel lug nut recess. I had to purchase a thin wall 18 mm socket.

One other caution is my metric set came with two 18 mm sockets. One of the other sockets was missing. I took it to the Sears store and they replaced the duplicated socket.

I dont want the craftsman chinese stuff. Sears has become a Harbor freight competitor. Its DISGUSTING to me.

sorry if my opinion offends. what happened to quality? Pride? we are not talking 300 dollar snap ons....its bothersome.

I have Craftsman and snap on in MY Toolbox. I Like the quality and I LIKE Americans working and Producing quality products. my 2 cents.

There are too many good alternatives out there today for me too even consider Craftsman Chinese sockets/tools in general. I grew up in the 60's,70's,80's using USA made Craftsman on the farm tool truck brands weren't an option. When we had a item fail dad usually replaced it with a SK from behind the counter at the local parts store. These Chinese made Craftsman fit finish feel are crappy. I am glad I bought both boys 263 pc Craftsman sets several years ago that were USA made for their first tool sets. Before I bought Craftsman I would buy Kolbalt Husky or tektons. For me a tool is an investment I want the best quality I can afford. Price is not the most important factor. I've seen too many people buy items off price alone just to have to replace it whether it be tools, power equipment, whatever you want to insert. I've got tools 40+ years old that have been used and are still going like new. Is that Chinese craftsman going to be around Sears probably won't. I'd rather go without and save up for a decent set done it many times.
