Hey guys,

Was at the local Sears the other day and noticed all the pro screwdrivers were missing on the racks. All I found were a few long cabinet style on clearance. Wasn't sure if this is just a local thing or what? I couldn't find a sales associate to ask what happened. Wasn't sure if I missed something? Haha

I don't this, as an iron clad fact, but...:dunno:

But, I believe Sears has been clearing out the Professional Screwdrive stock since the late Fall of 2012...

I tried to order the 50 piece set, with the Professional Pliers, and was told---"That set is no longer available..."

So, I bought the Proto Professional Classic Yellow Handle set...

I think they're gone...

Yea I figured they were on the way out. That's a real bummer. Always thought they were a pretty decent screwdriver for the money. :( shows how long it's been since I've set foot in Sears haha

Dang, so what happens if you need to warranty a pro driver? Those are my main screwdriver set.

My store has had them oon clearance forever for 4 and 9 cents off. Its ridiculous. Finally marked the torx pros at 50% off but only the singles. Set is full price.

If you don't mind them being green and black, SK sells the exact same set labeled "CushionGrip"

Yep train left station a while back.

I'd been on the fence a while and when they started disappearing I decided to get sk green. I'd rather had craftsman and could have still picked up a few but being discontinued dampened my enthusiasm. I did get a craftsman pro pick set with the same handles.

The local stores never reduced price. Just out them I clearance sections. All they had were singles and no sets.

My store told me they would warranty out the pro for a standard handle craftsman screwdriver.

Husky (home depot) did the same with the cushion grips (craftsman also sells these I think) so maybe it's a mfg issue with those. As for the pro they were probably discontinued but probably won't be replaced with import stuff; might actually replace with other "pro" stuff which they already sell but less prevalent like those wiha insulated drivers. Not necessarily a bad thing unless they replace it with low end import (which doesn't make sense because they didn't discontinue the crystal handles) so they might start stocking some wiha and wera (hopefully). Would like to see some other brands at mass retail for once we don't have a ton of independent sources here.

Someone posted recently that they took a CMAN pro screwdriver in to warranty and the clerk gave him a sears gift card for the value of it since they dont have replacements.

Sears is doing away with high quality. Soon there will be pro nothing

Well this stinks. Just about every one of my good screwdrivers is a craftsman premium and I have about 30 or so.

I guess that is why my local sears had them on clearance about a year ago. At least I scored quite a few for not terribly expensive.
