If it has Quiet Glide or ball bearing drawers, it should be fine for hobbyist use. If it's the Sears "Homeowner" line, it's ****.

One man's opinion.

Portland, yeah, that one.

Agreed -- the super basic "homeowner" stuff they sell is awful. I wouldn't pay $50.00 for it. I have a "Quiet Glide" box and a couple CMan ball bearing chests and they're great for what I need as a hobbyist, home mechanic. They feel waaaaay better and are much sturdier than the basic stuff. They're no professional boxes, but they are miles ahead of the basic line.

Depends on what you need/want. I agree it is light duty but it could still serve some purposes. I don't care for the Cman hutches, toss them usually. The bottom cabinet could be put on an under-the-bench shelf and used for a storage cabinet. I kinda like those top cabinets for parts bins and less-than-often used tool storage. I'll put them on a shelf in an out of the way place.

Clean them up and lube them and they are functional for such purposes.

Dave.

If you have absolutely nothing it'd work. I might think it would be better to put that 50 bucks towards something else though.
