So I finally start looking for the sockets I need to fill my craftsman socket organizer and come to find out craftsman doesn't even make some of the sockets that there are spots for in the craftsman organizer. What the hell!!!! I remember thinking it was odd that I didn't have all the spots filled when I bought the 1470 piece craftsman tool set back in 08 I should have every craftsman thing in existence. I can replace the ones I've lost over the years but it's going to drive me nuts that there will always be open spots. Why would they do that? It's retarded. Ok rant over.

Back when I had a single tool box, Craftsman, the type you could carry in one hand and it had a tray that lifted out I kept all my sockets in the top of the box. All lined up on the side according to size. They didn't match but this was an advantage. I could find one size I needed because it looked different. Used this set up for many years. I don't have that box anymore. I had a solid lift handle on each side eventually because it got so heavy.

I never lost a socket either because the side of the tray was full when I picked up all the sockets.

not only do they not make all the sockets but some of the craftsman sockets are too big and you have to enlarge the holes to get them to fit

The buyer likely saw an existing product and said "We'll take a half million. Put our name and this part number on the die insert, and use this color."

Places for sockets that don't exist and sockets for places that don't exist! Organizers are the way to madness! I recieved 2 sets of Kobalt racks for Christmas. At first it was great! Set up a Snap-On set and a Craftsman set...with a few gaps and a few hanging off the end as too big with no matching deep socket. Then I noticed the Craftsman set was a mixed bag of -v-, G, E, vv, laser etched! I had laser etched on the same rack as my -v- sockets!

Also, for organizational purposes, I have a few 1/4" blow molded Craftsman socket boxes, couple of 3/8ths and 3 large tool set boxes. Couple of metal SK, Proto,Stanley and even a Williams socket set box were thrown in. Socket rails, both metal and plastic filled a tool box for the overflow and even a set of unmarked magnetic strips rounded out the bunch.

Madness ensued when I started finding 6.3mm deep sockets or I had the 22mm socket with no place and a 21mm place with no socket...19/32...tool makers are EVIL!!

I realized I had a problem when I found myself in a pawn shop with a list and a table covered 6 inches deep in unsorted sockets.
4 hours later, I had filled 4 spots and bought a coffee can full of sockets. I soon just gave up and took a break.

I will sort my wrenches instead.

I know I'll never use half of them anyway. Im a tech and a lot of my sockets still havnt been used in the 8 years I've been a tech. I mean who uses a 9mm 1/2 drive but I have one. I'm buying a new box this weekend time to make some foam organizers I guess.

Which sockets are on this organizer that Craftsman doesn't make?

Just curious if this might be an organizer (or organizer design) from an earlier era when Craftsman DID make the sockets, but they've since dropped those sizes.

I PM'd a guy on here about buying some and he told me that some don't exist so just to confirm I googled 1/2 drive 6 point 29mm and yup doesn't exist. I didn't look for any others. I'll go get the ones they make this weekend probably and just fill the others with cheap HF sockets or something just to fill it up.

This is as bad as my mastercraft socket organizer.. the metric rack skips sizes, but the sockets dont!! I will have to relabel the rack one of these days.. also, the 1/4" rack has spaces for sockets they dont make.. grrrrr!!

1/2 drive 12pt SAE shallow 31/32

I have no information that that was a Craftsman socket size.

Do you actually have one of those sockets?

All the sockets in the table are USA Craftsman.

I'm looking for a 3/4" drive 12pt SAE shallow 2 1/2" socket.

Apparently this socket was available in a Craftsman branded set COO Taiwan. I saw a set on Ebay once. Other than that never seen one in the wild. And as far as I know it was never a USA Craftsman size.

By the way, there's a whole GJ thread on that socket size:

I had the same issue and finally gave up, I was missing or couldn't find or haven't bought the following.
1/4 drive 3/8 drive
5/32 12pt 7mm 6pt
20 12pt
22 12pt

1/2 drive 6pt

25/32
15/16
1
1 1/4
1 1/2
25mm
26mm
27mm
28mm
29mm
30mm
32mm
36mm
1/2 drive 12 pt
10mm
12mm
15mm

I either cannot find these or just have not bought yet but had same problem looking at sears many not listed to purchase. It was frustrating at first but as long as I have it in 12pt what makes the difference if I actually have it in 6 or vice versa, these are not common sizes that I use frequently enough to go crazy over but I sure did spend a lot of time with a list looking for them at the flea market and online. lol
