Are they any good?I can get one just like the ones on sale for $188 the upper and lower from a guy at work for $50.
Does this seem like a good deal? The drawers slide freely, don't make any noise. It is a good amount of storage and I will be needing that in the near future.Since I don't have a toolbox now it seems like a good move so what do you think of the quality in CMAN tool boxes

I'd go for it, if you are not flush with storage now. It can always be used for air tools, abrasives, etc at a later date, if you outgrow it.

There is a wide quality range in the Sears boxes. $50 for top and bottom seems like a good deal, though.

I think it is hard to go wrong at that price; hell, at this point you can't hardly buy a service cart for that price! I just bought a similar box like this and it comes with ball-bearing drawer slides for $298: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_009H0350000B?vName=Tools It isn't a terribly large box but a decent one to start out with; the ball bearing drawers are nice, especially when you load down the drawers with heavy stuff, like air tools! The box you mentioned at $188 is a "home" series box, it has compound sliders and they tend to come with a lighter gage steel construction as well. Another option, is just buy a bottom box (put a piece of wood on top for a work surface, gives you a small portable work bench, even install a vise if you want to!) at $269.99 this is one of the tallestt/smaller boxes they sell. It comes with allot of drawers, the cab has the most height that is in my store and probably one of the better "bang for your buck" buys out there. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...Garage+&+Tool+Storage&sName=Chests+&+Cabinets Of course if you can find a used snapon on craigslist for $200; I would do that too! LOL!http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17110&highlight=woody
I say go for it.

I've had a few Cman boxes and no problems. Then again, I don't beat the **** out of them or abuse them in any way - or rely on them to make my living. But for simple tool storage, they do the job.

I have Crafty friction slide boxes, you know..............the ones no one wants anymore. Truth is, ball bearings would be nice but my old friction jobs get the job done just fine for my needs. Yup, buy them, sounds like a great price to me!

My c-man quiet glide boxes serve me well. BUT, I don't use them professionally, and I do take care of them - the drawers are really overloaded, but I don't slam them around and it's doing just fine.

If they are the Quiet Glide or Ball Bearing series grab them up before he decides to sell to someone else. If they are the Homeowners line turn and run as fast as you can. Those boxes are junk.

Actually, you're right about the homeowners. My "homeowners" boxes from the 1990s have a different heft to them than the current offerings. Hell, you'd be better off making tool boxes out of this....

Even so, they are worth $50 to a guy that is starting out. Easily hold supplies, electrical parts, etc later.
